The West Mukalla Magistrate’s Court in Hadramawt Governorate, southeastern Yemen, obliged the governor of the governorate and the Director General of the Hadramawt Coast Education Office to review all excess and ineffective contract slots and cancel them within a period not exceeding three months.

The decision handed down by the court upheld the award of salaries and incentives for the canceled contract slots to the rest of the education employees and contractors, as an increase in their incentives.

The judgment also provides for increasing incentives for teachers by at least 60% of current incentives, starting from January 2026, not terminating contracts arbitrarily and paying incentives before the end of the first week of the start of each coming month, in addition to completing job settlement procedures and paying annual bonuses retroactively.

The Hadhramawt Coast Teachers and Educators Union had filed a lawsuit in court in the context of its union dispute with local authorities and the Education Bureau over teachers’ incentives and bonuses.
